New Student Inquiries
You can be a part of the studio in three ways
1. A person can become a studio member. This student pays a monthly tuition. He or she will enjoy a weekly private lesson, access to group lessons, music technology, will perform on all studio recitals, and will receive a discount on his or her Spitfire enrollment fee if they decide to join this band.
2. A person can enroll in a group class. This person pays a registration fee and a flat monthly rate to participate in a weekly 40-minute group class. Students may enroll in a class at the beginning of a session. Class sizes a maximum of 6 students. Each class will decide if it wants to play on the studio recital. Group class members may also enjoy a discount on their Spitfire enrollment fee.
3. A person can join the Spitfire Fiddle Band. Nissa’s String Studio hosts the community-based fiddle group, The Spitfire Fiddle Band (SFB). This is a fun group designed to cultivate fiddle music within the community. SFB plays a repertoire of old-time fiddle tunes in a laid-back, yet productive setting. Learning resources are available on this website. Outside-of-rehearsal practice and listening is required! This band has an enrollment fee once per session and practices every other Saturday morning. SFB plays on all studio recitals. Supplemental fiddle lessons offered to SFB members only. (Click HERE to visit the SFB page.)
Studio Members
Private Instruction
- Most Ages Welcome!
- Beginner to Advanced Levels
- Each student receives one private lesson per week. Lessons are taught year-round with designated weeks off per year.
- Beginning through advanced instruction is offered in violin, fiddle, viola, piano, guitar, mandolin, synthesizer, and music technology.
- Private lessons offered in 30-minute, 45-minute and 60-minute intervals.
Group Classes
- Group Classes meet once per week for 40 minutes.
- Students may enroll in a class at the beginning of a session.
- Small class size.
- Each class will perform on the studio recitals.
Recitals
- Spring & Summer Recitals:
- Each student performs a solo with accompaniment.
- Winter Recital:
- Students perform chamber music in duets, trios and quartets.
- Each group is coached by their private instructor during scheduled rehearsals throughout December.
- The annual Studio Christmas Party follows this concert.
Music Technology
- Recording Capabilities:
- Students are able to record their playing and take home a CD at the end of the lesson.
- Some students choose to make full-length CD’s for gifts, fun, or personal advancement.
- For aural learning, individualized recordings are made for at-home practice.
- Sheet Music Capabilities:
- Finale software is used to document student compositions and make musical arrangements.
